We just need to say that Santana is here the Ultra Sky Marathon Santana takes place! An event that makes part of the Skyrunner® World Series of ISF - INternaction Skyrunning Federation, and of the Skyrunner® National Series Spain, Andorra & Portugal (being the only event in Portugal). This race goes arount the concil of Santana, and we think is the only one in the World, here a single council has a internacional event of this quality.
Santana has the highest peak in Madeira, the Pico Ruivo, and has track here you can run starting at the sea level going all the way to the top os this peak - Pico Ruivo - and back again by different trails. What gives you an idea of the quantity of amazing track you can experiment in a short distance from one and other. All of them have one thing in common - great views from the highest mountain down until the ocean.
Santan has the real stage of the great growing that trail running had in the island in the past years, the Trail Santana Madeira Bioesfera has one of the first events that really had some mass participation having people starting to pay attention to trail running all over the island since that race.
